Some three years ago, Dhoheliat, a yet fledgling raptor an of his clan, wandered the forests with his betrothed, Lolta, when they were beset upon by pirates. Dhoheliat took a spear through his liver, robbed of everything he had and very nearly his life as well. Lolta was not so lucky. And so Dhoheliat was robbed, too, of something he did not yet have.
A traveler came upon the scene, Lolta already perished and Dhoheliat nearly so himself. The traveler rushed Dhoheliat to the one raptoran village to the home of Helata, the local healer, and not a moment too soon; the young raptoran male would have surely perished if the spear remained lodged in his abdomen any longer. But through many hours of restorative rituals and strange spellcasting, Helata cured Dhoheliat of his ailments and the traveler took his leave from her cliffside abode.
But throughout it all, Dhoheliat lied awake and at his side stood the shadowy winged figure of Kithin. He took it was a sign. Especially when Helata took note of his divine potential and took him under he “proverbial” wing as junior village shaman.
Her tutelage, though well intended, proved increasingly irritating as the years progressed. She was too intrinsically good. Dhoheliat had seen the truth of the world, and Kithin’s presence in his life had never ceased. He fell into the role of undertaker for his village and eventually the surrounding area as well. He actively searches out cadavers, through the bidding of others or by his own sheer curiosity. Loved ones of those who are lost are commonly at their last option when seeking out Dhoheliat’s aid. Dhoheliat performs what they desire, for a nominal fee, as corpses are things he likes to study. And tamper with.
